The Exploratory Latin Exam

The Exploratory Latin Exam 2010 will include the following:
|
The Classical World has always been a
source of amazement and inspiration for
students at the elementary school level.
In order to recognize and celebrate this
interest, ETC (Excellence Through
Classics for Elementary and Middle
School Levels) sponsors the Exploratory
Latin Exam, an age-appropriate national
evaluation. ETC is making all attempts to
acknowledge the diversity of the existing
exploratory programs throughout the
country and to focus upon common
elements rather than to mandate course
content.
The Exploratory Latin Exam will focus upon the topics listed below. While
grammatical forms are not tested, students should be able to recognize
vocabulary in grammatical context. This exam is appropriate for students in
Grades 3 through 6, and is not designed for students qualified to take the
National Latin Exam
Thirty multiple-choice questions over the following topics:
Students in Grades 5 and 6 must answer ten additional questions from
the general syllabus plus ten questions based upon the theme "Daily Life
in Ancient Rome." See the Syllabus Addendum for more information of
this special topic.
Exams may be administered at any point between October 1, 2009 and April 1,
2010. Teachers must return completed exams within one week after each
administration. Results from all exams, regardless of administration date, will
be sent in May 2010. All participants will receive ribbons, high scores will
receive certificates, and perfect scores will earn medallions.
A syllabus will be mailed to you upon receipt of your registration.
